Now that I’ve had a solid day to digest yesterday’s big reveal of Quantum of the Seas, I thought it would be good to say a few words about the new ship. First, I’m not surprised that Royal Caribbean has managed to come up with something innovative and new…. the next “big thing” in cruising. I really just had no idea how big it would be. I don’t know where to start, but here’s a brief rundown on the new features available to Quantum of the Seas guests.

RipCord by iFly – A skydiving simulator at sea. Yes, I’m on it!

North Star – A capsule that lifts you 300 feet above the sea for panoramic views.

270 – A new entertainment venue with a 270 degree panoramic view, and new entertainment showcase at night.

SeaPlex – Bumper cars at sea and more.

This is just a taste of what this ship will offer. Quantum of the Seas will sail alternating 7 to 12 night Caribbean itineraries from the New York City area via her homeport of Cape Liberty, NJ beginning in the fall of 2014. Quantum of the Seas will be available for booking on May 27, 2013 for Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society members, and June 4, 2013 for the general public. Look for a Cruising with MJ series on Quantum of the Seas very soon.

In the meantime, here’s a video introducing the new ship.
