I recently completed my first Hyatt stay in a very long time. It’s not that I’m on some mission to avoid Hyatt, it’s just that other brands seem to fit my lodging needs a bit better. Being the only blogger on earth who hasn’t done some kind of Hyatt Diamond thing, one might think that I’d be a non-status holder. Thanks to my Milepoint Premium membership, I actually hold Hyatt Platinum status, so I did not have to start this stay at the very bottom of the status ladder. Of course, this Hyatt stay was connected to the Tampa edition of Frequent Traveler University, and I can’t think of a better reason to enjoy my first Hyatt stay in a long time. The Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay turned out to be an excellent choice for my Hyatt re-entry.

The hotel is undergoing quite a bit of remodeling on the lobby level, and just based on the renderings adorning the wall, the lobby is going to be…well…grand. Without exception, every employee that I interacted with was polite and professional. Check in was excellent. My 14th floor room had clearly been renovated recently. I liked the furnishings, the layout, and basically everything about it. Plenty of power outlets, and lots of light around the work area. Hotel wi-fi was speedy enough for my use during the visit. Room service breakfast was excellent.

All in all, my first Hyatt stay in 12 years was a big win. I see why all the bloggers have been talking about Hyatt Gold Passport now! And by the way, don’t forget to register for the Discover New Possibilities promotion to earn up to 50,000 bonus points. Click here to register.
